Dear all,

Since the digital switch over I have lost the signal for almost all
television channels through the building's communal aerial system. I
can now only receive the BBC channels. Before the switch over I could
get the full compliment of digital freeview channels.

Has any one else experienced the same problem? I suspect the the
building's aerial needs to be realigned or perhaps replaced. I've
spoken to the freeholders' management company but they believe the
problem is only related to my flat and have suggested that I will have
to pay for a contractor to check the aerial.

I appreciate that many of you may have cable or sky accounts so don't
use the freeview aerial, but it would be really helpful if if you
could check your signal and let me know if you have the same problem.

Kind regards

I've never ever had a signal from the buildings communal antenna, and I've been here over 5 years!

I was lucky enough to have access to the roof so had satellite dish installed.

After the switchover everyone should of retuned their machines as the channel alignment changed. Have you done this? http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/about_digital_uk/retuningafterswitchover

My friend lives around the corner and has equally dire reception - he used one of these to greatly improve his reception: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Freeview-Signal-Amplifier-Booster/dp/B000WP288K/

Thanks for the response Nick.

I have tried re-tuning. I've been in the building for around 4 years
and the signal has never been great, but around a year ago it seemed
to improve (probably coincided with me getting a new TV).

I suspect that the building's aerial needs to be upgraded to a digital
one, as it is most likely an old analogue, and this should be
undertaken by the freeholder, but I wanted to check other people were
experiencing the same lack of signal before I pursued it with them.

Hi,

Just my two penneth, even though I don't live there any more :) - the phone number I have for the people that installed the TV for the buildings is 020 8298 1111, the dish is on top of what was Sam Faulkner's old flat - the penthouse on 23, don't know who lives there now.

All,

I live in flat 10 23 wheler street and I have no problems receiving digital. Hence I don't think it is the communal one might be wrong though as I am not a specialist.
