FYI – The email regarding 159 Commercial St (ex-Lahori Masala)...
Even before its Planning Change of Use to a massive 637 capacity majority A4 bar is decided (BTW – Still time to object – details available if you need a re-send)... 159 is also seeking a Premises Licence to sell alcohol to match it’s late bar trading ambitions.
This is a huge 2 floor venue – which embedded in residential properties - is – perhaps -in totally the wrong place to be a bar – let alone one selling late-night alcohol?!
So; if you share any worries over these late ambitions on our doorstep; please object. Otherwise if we don’t raise our concerns; we could end up with Licensing granting hours beyond any granted by Planning – which will then cause everyone months or years more of hassle trying to reign-in; just like it did with Edge & we don’t want another one of those!
Please remember; for a licence application we have to express concerns under the terms of any of the 4 Licensing Objectives. The 2 that will apply best here are: Prevention of Public Nuisance & Prevention of Crime & Disorder.
Therefore please state as many examples as you like; based on current problems experienced in the area due to the relentless spread of the 24/7 Night-time Economy or on past local (Edge) experiences. If you demonstrate that this application will negatively impact you & cause an increase in Public Nuisance &/or Crime/Disorder (not too hard as many of the past or even existing late bars in Spitalfields have a certain; deserved; reputation for anti-social fall-out!) that should do the trick.
We all have a well documented history to quote; courtesy of Edge & if you objected to the previous Lahori Masala Licence in July – you can ‘re-cycle’ that objection with a few easy tweaks.
