VDOT has officially opened the online public survey for the Shenandoah Rail Trail corridor, and this is a key moment to make your voice heard. I know you feel like you’ve done this before (so many times!), but we all need to chime in one more time that yes, we want the connected, 49-mile Shenandoah Rail-to-Trail. |
Reminder, VDOT’s Phase 3 cost analysis indicates that incorporating rail restoration into the existing trail proposal would cost $687 million, four times more than a trail-only project. |
|
|
This survey is part of the final phase of public input, and strong participation from trail supporters will help shape what comes next. |
As a reminder, we’ve long supported a vision that: |
• Keeps the corridor intact for future rail use |
• Strengthens local economies |
• Enhances quality of life across the Valley |
• Delivers a fiscally responsible solution |
The connected, 49-mile trail we’ve been advocating for together for nearly a decade continues to be the project that can meet all these goals. |
AND share it with others who care about the future of this corridor. |
We also hope to see you at the upcoming public meetings later this month. |
Thank you for staying engaged—and for helping move this effort forward. |
