Thanks to everyone who has shown interest in WheelGoThere so far! I
apologize for dragging my (w)heels so far, but hopefully we can get
rollin'.

We had a great discussion at BarCampRDU with six attendees. After I
explained what the project was all about (mapping accessibility data
(GPS coordinates and images of accessibility features) using crowd
sourced data from a game), we had a lengthy discussion of possible
features, which included:
* competitions between users for optimal accessible routes
* users can give each other point
* ability to notify police for location if a vehicle is parked in a
handicapped space without a tag
* award businesses for accessibility features/improvements
* twitter, facebook integration
* badges
* (and probably more..)

Rippy talked about http://gameful.org, which was released a few days
after the session. It was a kickstarter project for organizing groups
of developers and designers working on games for good. We may want to
get involved.

Recently, on a Software Sunday at Splat Space, Aaron Bedra lead a
session on getting started with Android Development. It was decided
that WheelGoThere would be a good large on-going project for the group
to work on.

We need to flesh out some requirements! That means we should actually
meet. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving is next week, but let's try to
schedule it either the first or second third in December. Please vote
on the evening that works best for you:

Thanks!

Hi Lenore,
Have you considered creating a wiki page with your thoughts so far?
I'd be able to contribute (at least with research) if the project has
a home.

Looking forward to helping out!
Alan

Alan,

Yes, that is an excellent idea. I'll see what I can put together...

Thanks,
Lenore

Last week or so, I added a wiki page to the Splat Space wiki, with
some information about what the app(s) should include. It's kind of
vague, because there are so many different directions we can go with
this. It looks pretty bare bones to me, though, so any help you can
contribute on fleshing out the requirements would be great. That's
basically the first step before we actually implement much, even if we
start out with something small.

You can view and edit the wiki here: http://wiki.splatspace.org/index.php/WheelGoThere
Note, that if you haven't already, you will have to register to edit,
but you do not have to be a Splat Space member to register. I
strongly encourage you to edit and ask questions, because what seems
obvious to me may not be to everyone else and I am sure that you all
have ideas of what we can do to make it as cool and as useful as
possible.

I didn't get very much feedback on the best times to have an actual
meeting. Given that the rest of the holidays are fast approaching, it
might make sense to wait until January, but work on fleshing out some
of the details on the wiki. How does that sound?

Thanks,
Lenore
