I am the co-chair for the 2009 games (softball) being held in Spokane in July. We are using a parking lot as our field. I would like to know what would be best to use
for the batter's back stop. Netting or chainlink or whatever. Thanks, Andy Olson
So its official that Nationals will be in Spokane?

Andy –
First of all, I wish you good luck this year – what a wonderful event and opportunity you have! I organized the softball tourney in 2007 in Milwaukee, and also held it in our County Zoo parking lot, but did not utilize a backstop at all. Between the catcher and umpires, I don’t recall having any problems. Plus, we had volunteers, mostly youth groups, which stood watch behind home plate and the outfield, beyond the snow fence.
If you would like any other information, please feel free to contact me. I hope to get out to Spokane this year, so maybe we’ll meet…
Good luck and have a great time!!!

| Thanks for your help. I guess we are just going to have a volunteer shag the foul balls. Thank you very much,Andy --- On Fri, 4/24/09, Falls, James E., VBAPHILSDT <james...@va.gov> wrote: |

Hi Andy,
That is cool I will be out the as well hopefully playing on your field. The cheapest and safest way is use the orange plastic mess fencing and could up will a temporary backstop. If you do that it should work out fine.
