The Tampa Bay Rays hosted NWSA’s first wheelchair softball tournament
of the 2008 season on May 17-18 at their new field near Busch Gardens
in Rowlett Park, Tampa, FL. The 2008 Spring Training Tournament began
with a field dedication by the mayor of Tampa followed by the Nebraska
Barons, Tampa Bay Rays, and RIC (Chicago) Cubs competing in a nine
game tournament over two days.
The RIC Cubs won the 2008 Spring Training Tournament with a 4-2
record, with the Nebraska Barons finishing second at 4-2 followed by
the Tampa Bay Rays at 1-5.

Game 2: Barons 12 – Rays 6
Game 3: Barons 12 – Cubs 6
Game 4: Barons 10 – Rays 2
Game 5: Cubs 8 - Barons 7
Game 6: Rays 12 – Cubs 6
Game 7: Barons 8 – Rays 0
Game 8: Cubs 5 – Barons 4
Game 9: Cubs 9 – Rays 4
