Greetings from the Cinephile Film Club!
This Thursday, 12th Feb at 6.30 pm, Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the classic adventure drama, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948, English, 2 hrs 6 mins), directed by John Huston.
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, one of John Huston’s most celebrated works, stars Humphrey Bogart as Fred C. Dobbs, alongside Tim Holt and Walter Huston. Set in the rugged landscapes of Mexico, the film follows two down-and-out Americans who join forces in search of gold in the Sierra Madre mountains. As fortune begins to favor them, suspicion and greed gradually erode their partnership. Taut, morally complex, and psychologically penetrating, the film stands as a powerful exploration of ambition, paranoia, and the corrupting lure of wealth. The film won three Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Supporting Actor.
