Greetings from the Cinephile Film Club!
This Thursday, 7th August at 6.30 pm, Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the Hollywood classic, Sunset Boulevard (1950, 110mins) directed by Billy Wilder.
Considered among the greatest Hollywood films ever made, it was nominated for 11 Oscars (including all four acting categories). The film features Gloria Swanson in a remarkable performance as Norma Desmond, a faded silent-film star who lures Joe Gillis (William Holden), a struggling screenwriter, into her delusional fantasy world, where she envisions a grand comeback to the big screen. Erich von Stroheim, in a towering performance, plays her loyal butler. Right from the acting, direction, writing, to cinematography, this was a landmark film.
