Screening of 'The Gospel According to St. Matthew'

Greetings from the Cinephile Film Club of the Entertainment Society of Goa. 

This Wednesday 6th April, Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the classic Italian film, The Gospel According to St. Matthew,  at 6.30 p.m. at Cinephile Film Club, Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Complex, Panjim.

A story told with as much simplicity as one possibly could,  Pier Paolo Pasolini's film ranks among the very best. As the title suggests, the film is inspired by the Gospel of St. Mathew and using the text, it chronicles the life of Jesus Christ. 

Passolini himself was an atheist and his approach using  Italian neorealism and brilliant storytelling is what makes this film one for the ages - it was shot without a script following Mathew, page by page. The film was nominated for 3 Oscars and it won the Special Jury prize at the Venice Film Festival.
