Director Quentin Tarantino said that Once Upon a Time in the West is a film that made him consider filmmaking; that is the kind of influence that this film has had on filmmakers. In fact, the title of the Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a tribute to the Leone film.
Sergio Leone made only seven feature films during his career, but each of the films, particularly the westerns, like the 'Dollar' trilogy, has left an indelible mark on the annals of cinema. Even a key scene in Sholay is inspired by Once Upon a Time in the West. The film revolves around a woman (Claudia Cardinale) and three men around her, with different motives. Shot on widescreen, the film also has a memorable music score by Ennio Morricone.
