Greetings from the Cinephile Film Club! This Thursday, 3rd July at 6.30 pm, as an annual celebration to commemorate Arthur Conan Doyle's anniversary, we are screening two popular Sherlock Holmes stories starring Jeremy Brett, who was the quintessential Holmes. Film critic and Sherlock Holmes aficionado Sachin Chatte will introduce the films.
The Bruce Partington Plans:(53 mins) - A young man's body is found next to the railway track with confidential Submarine plans in his pocket. Mycroft, Sherlock's brother, an important figure in the British government, seeks his help to solve the mystery that involves international espionage.
The Copper Beeches (52 mins) - A very popular Holmes story, this one is about a young lady who consults the detective on what appears to be a trivial matter. She receives a handsome offer for employment - except that her prospective employer wants her to cut her hair short. Holmes and Watson (David Burke) investigate a matter that is far more sinister than it initially appears.
So grab your deerstalker hats and other Holmes accessories and we'll see you at the screening!
The membership for the film club is open, you can visit esg.co.in and register online.
