Screening of Certified Copy

Greetings from the Cinephile film club!

This Thursday, 12th Feb at 6.30 pm, Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the romantic comedy, Certified Copy (2010, English-French,1hr 46 mins), directed by Abbas Kiarostami.

Certified Copy, the penultimate feature by Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami, stars Juliette Binoche as a French antiques dealer and William Shimell as a British writer. Set largely in Tuscany, the film follows the shifting dynamics of their relationship over the course of a single day. Richly layered and deliberately ambiguous, the film becomes a meditation on authenticity, intimacy, and the fragile constructions that shape relationships between a man and a woman. Binoche won the Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival that year.
