On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, which happened on 9 November 1989, Prof. Lehmann will present a 3D simulation along with a lecture. He will give an insight on the Museumsinsel (Museums Island) and the historical opportunities to reunite important collections which had been divided due to the separation of East and West Germany during four decades. The Museumsinsel is considered as an internationally unique ensemble and a model of an educational landscape. A new master plan opens up the rare chance to create a modern structure of the different historic buildings on the Museumsinsel in a single unit by respecting their architectural autonomy. About Professor Klaus-Dieter Lehmann Prof. Lehmann was the President of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Culture Heritage Foundation) in Berlin from 1998 until 2008. The Museumsinsel (Museums Island) is the heart of the Prussian Culture Heritage Foun-dation which is one of the world's major cultural organizations. Since 1998, he essentially influen-ced the design and outcome of the renovation works on the Museumsinsel in Berlin. In addition to other honors, Prof. Lehmann is a recipient of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques and the Bundesverdienstkreuz, First Class (Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany). He is Honorary Professor at the Universität Frankfurt am Main and Humboldt-Universität in Berlin, a member of the board of trustees of the Bertelsmann Foundation and bearer of an honorary doctorate from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.
