The Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) is back in town this
year, for their sixth round! The festival being organised by the Indo
Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF) is spread out between December 17
to 26, One can be expect it to be a bigger event with the Tamil Nadu
government pitching in its support, this year.

The festival has several highlights that include, screening of world
cinema, from countries like Algeria, Croatia, Brazil, Czech Republic,
Serbia, Thailand, kazakhastan and many more; theme-based movies on
Warsaw from Poland, and a choice selection of ten campus movies,
filmed by students of L.V.Prasad Film and TV Academy.

25 films which were presented at the International Film Festival of
India (IFFI), Goa this year, are also being presented at this year's
CIFF. The celebrations are also in the name of the International
Federation of Film Societies in Italy, completing 60 years of its
existence. 5 Italian movies are slated to be screened during the
festival to commomerate the occassion.

Some of the award winning movies that are to be shown from around the
world include, The Class (France), which won the Best Film Award at
the Cannes Film Festival, 2008; and the Three Monkeys (Turkey) which
won the award for the Best Direction at the Cannes Film Festival, 2008
too. Malini Fonesca who acted in Flowers of the Sky (Sri Lanka), one
of the world movies to be screened, won the Special Jury Award, Silver
Peacock at IFFI, Goa, 2008.
