The Navoi Opera and Ballet Grand Academic Theatre in Tashkent (named after Alisher Navoi) has become one of the leading centres of performing arts in Central Asia, where many famous conductors and musicians, artistes and singers have performed and still perform. In fact this is one of the only 3 theatres that were given the status of Bolshoi (meaning 'Big') in the erstwhile Soviet Union. The artists of Navoi Theatre Company have graced the stages of La Scala, Milan, The Paris Opera, Covent Garden, the Metropolitan and the Bolshoi and Mariynsky theatres.
Its wide repertoire ranges from classical favourites such as Swan Lake and Don-Quixote, to original creations, inspired by ancient Uzbek folk tales. Their performances can be compared to the best in the world.
The Bolshoi Ballet is being brought to India for a series of shows in the metros of India. A show of such magnitude and grandeur has not been seen in India for the last 40 years.
A troupe of 110 will consist of about 50 ballet dancers and a 50 member philharmonic orchestra along with support staff.
The show in Chennai is being coordinated by Media Mix Innovative Promotions .

The ballet group will perform two shows of Don Quixote on Saturday 10th January. Set to the music of Ludwig Minkus, the excitement, colour and wit of Cervantes' masterpiece is perfectly conveyed in this sparkling production.
Two shows of 'Medley of Classics' will be performed on Sunday 11th January which will include pieces from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake & Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet and Raymonda to name a few.
