Mawaweel Festival presents on Thursday 2 August the following main acts:
9:30pm - 1:30am: Bazaar, Art Exhibition, Craft Workshops
10:30pm - 11:30pm: Concert - Basheer
12am - 1am: Mawalaweya - Sufi Jazz
Entrance fee is 20 L.E
Free entrance for children less than 12 years old
Originating from Upper Egypt, Aswan, Basheer uses his deep cultural roots to create a brilliant concoction of modern fusions with oriental sounds, remnant to the heritage of JA'FFARY culture, art and rituals to introduce it to the world as an entirely new phase of Upper Egyptian Folkloric music.
Inspired by the Egyptian Sufi heritage, Mawlaweya, this time, will be performing their enchanting ‘Sufi Jazz’ act. With the help of their guest musicians, Mawlaweya will show the universality of Sufi music and how easily it can incorporate other forms of soulful music, such as Jazz, particularly as both Sufi music and Jazz are both dependent on improvisation. They will also be using their visual elements through whirl dancing incorporating red colors to emanate warmth and magnificence.
