Playing Panzer Dragoon Saga in Kronos and any resolution above 480p distorts the pixels on the characters faces. Like for instance one eye will be lower than the other or any black color around or under the eyes will be slightly blurred together. Anything in Kronos options to prevent this or is it just a consequence of upscaling to higher resolution with an older game?

When we visit my in-laws on their farm (which has slow & unstable internet), we use 480p resolution because 720p and 1080p uses too much bandwidth so the video constantly buffers (pausing for 5-30 seconds after every 2-10 seconds of video). At 480p, the video only rarely buffered and would play smoothly 98% of the time.

Six weeks ago, when we last visited my in-laws, setting the Chromecast resolution to 480p worked flawlessly. Now, after Google has "added new features," according to the pop-up that displays the first time after you sign into the Chromecast after the most recent firmware update (side note: ALL FOUR of those "new" features they were just dying to share were already present in the CwGTV six weeks ago, before the firmware update), they failed to mention the "feature" of pointlessly removing 480p support. (Like, why couldn't they just leave it be as it was? It worked fine! Aaargh!)

This is the kind of bullcrap I expect from Apple and is why I avoid Apple like the plague. But with each new consumer-hostile change Google makes, I'm becoming more and more irritated with them and am now inches from abandoning the ecosystem I've used for the past 17 years.

Yes, I've seen the threads regarding the Chromecast claiming not to be able to display the 480p resolution. I can confirm that this is an issue that the Chromecast Engineering team is aware of and that they are looking for a resolution. If you are still experiencing this error, please submit feedback via Google TV. That way, if there are any error logs generated, they will be sent to the engineering team.

I've read through pretty much all issues relating to Switch not being able to provide more than 480p output in docked mode and am yet to come to a solution. Here's a brief rundown of my story so far ...

Of course, went back to the shop and as soon as I connected it there, the thing worked as intended again!!
(same scenario when coming home, and again, less than a week passed and it reverted to 480p signal send...)

As for the TV output options on the Switch, I only have "automatic" and "480p" available; it's like the console isn't sensing compatibility, hence not "pulling" available info from EDID, which, frankly, sounds idiotic from my experience, so must be something either very complex or stupid simple.

Well, Ted Chieng in the wonderful story of “The Merchant and the Alchemist’s Gate” shared an alternative theory to time travel where you cannot change the past. The consequence of this type of time travel is beautiful - read it in Exhalation.

Hello I have a Link from my provider , a lot of channels have an Hd , full hd and Sd options, until now emby would choose the highest of them, and everything worked great. Since a couple of days ago, It wont go past 480p. (it even looks worse than that). I tried deleting the tuner and setting it up again , restarting the server etc.. And yes , The streams Play fine in HD using different players. Any help would be really apreciated.

So My Iptv Provider Provides me with a link (m3u Url) for the channels. I have used that with emby and have been very please how it all works( I use it mostly because of the DVR function). But since a few days ago, The streams have a lower quality. and In the settings emby wont let it go past 480p(4mb) . I know the link is good, as I can test it on kodi or nextpvr . One thing to keep in mind is that my provider have hd and sd versions of the same channels (untill now emby has always displayed the HD ones) .

When 480p30 is broadcast on air, it is frame doubled then interlaced to 480i60. In case of 480p24, it is processed using the 3:2 pulldown technique to 480i60. In both cases the spatial resolution doesn't change, but the conversion to a interlaced format allows a direct digital to analog conversion for eventual broadcast on the analog television network.

Over the past week, streaming providers have drastically reduced image quality in Europe in order to limit data usage; networks have been strained by the surge in streaming due to coronavirus-induced streaming binges. First, it was Netflix, and then YouTube, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, and others promptly followed suit. So far, only YouTube has expanded these measures globally.

I am dealing with a very annoying issue of the Xfinity XG1V4 K Cable Box resetting itself to a Video resolution to 480p even after going into the Video Preferences and setting the resoltion to 2160p (Best Available). The configuration I am using is the XG1V4 connected to a Marantz receiver (Model SR5014) via an HDMI cable to the CBL/SAT HDMI Input. The Marantz receiver is connected to the Sony 4K TV (Model XBR-65X900F) from the Marantz Monitor 1 output to the Sony HDMI 1.

I was hesitant because I had an Arc setup before but I had issues with it. I believe it was because I had not configured it properly. In the past, I ran the Xfinity HDMI into the receiver, then had the Arc connection between the TV and the receiver. Each day, I had to unplug the receiver to get a picture as the picture would disappear.
