FYI...

Cheers,
Mac

We’re pleased to announce two new titles that give you early access to essential information about macOS 13 Ventura, iOS 16, and iPadOS 16 during the public beta period ahead of their official release. And we’d like to offer you the chance to save over 33% when you purchase both of them together.

Take Control of Ventura, written by yours truly, explores the many changes in macOS 13. As in past years, we’re combining the instructions for upgrading to Ventura and using Ventura in one book. It contains complete details on all the new apps and features in Ventura, including some that won’t quite be ready in version 13.0 but will appear later this year in an update. Learn about the new System Settings app that replaces System Preferences, plus Stage Manager, using your iPhone as a webcam with Continuity Camera, new capabilities in Mail and Messages, Passkeys, updated Safari features, and more.

Take Control of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, by TidBITS Managing Editor Josh Centers, introduces you to the new and improved features in Apple’s mobile operating systems. This time, Josh has added a great deal of information on iOS and iPadOS basics, including using some of the most important built-in apps, customizing your device, and using the iPad’s multitasking features. Like the Ventura book, this title covers new cross-platform features in apps like Mail, Messages, Safari, FaceTime, and Notes, plus features available only on iPhones and iPads.

Once Ventura, iOS 16.0, and iPadOS 16.1 are officially released, we’ll publish free updates to both books, to cover whatever changes between now and then.
These two new books join a few other titles that were recently updated to support the new operating systems—Glenn Fleishman’s Take Control of Find My and AirTags, Take Control of Your Apple ID, and Take Control of Your M-Series Mac. Next week, we’ll be updating Take Control of Calendar and Reminders and Take Control of Securing Your Mac. Later in September, we’re planning to release big new versions of Take Control of 1Password and Take Control of Your Passwords, and we have many (many) other updates in progress as well!

One more thing… Our friends at NMUG, the Naples (Florida) MacFriends User Group, have extended a special offer to all Take Control customers: join NMUG during the month of September and you’ll receive a free two-month (or more) membership, through the end of November. (After that, if you want to join the club for a full year, you can pay a $30 fee.) Meetings are held by Zoom every Wednesday, from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM, EDT; this webpage has details about upcoming meeting topics. We’ve worked with NMUG for years, and many of our authors have given presentations and classes there. The group is a great resource for anyone wanting to learn more about how to use their Apple products.
Warm regards,
