This is a sad note I’m only sharing with my “Apple user” friends…
About 20 years ago, while cleaning out old unused applications from my MacBook Pro, I dragged a really huge Adobe graphics app to the trash and emptied the trash. Then I discovered there were still hundreds of Adobe support files still buried in Library folders on my computer. I learned most of these leftover files do nothing and cause no harm, but they consumed precious space on my hard drive. I learned it is possible to manually find and delete these files, but it is VERY tedious work and I was NOT likely to find all of them.
So, I did trial runs with several “App deletion" helper apps. These utility apps find application support files and enable you to easily delete them all at once along with the application itself. I liked one called “AppDelete” because it seemed to work better than the others. It got good reviews, was easy to use, cost only a few $$, ran quietly in the background and would spring to life whenever I deleted an application.
Reggie Ashworth, the developer, was always quick to respond to an occasional question I might email to him. Last week, I sent him a question and got a reply from someone else. I learned that Reggie died in a tragic car accident in 2017 and left behind a wife and 3 kids. Here’s a clip from the AppDelete website:
"Late Reggie Ashworth
He was based in sunny Anaheim, California. Reggie Ashworth was
an independent software developer whose passion for the Mac platform was
only exceeded by his aim to craft simple, yet useful utilities. He was
fanatical about total customer satisfaction.
In 2017, he died in a tragic car accident and left behind his
common-law-wife and three kids.

Hans Thorsten Tuchel
His best friend, Hans Thorsten Tuchel, took over the support of
the Apps and is continuing what Reggie Ashworth started with the target
to keep the customers satisfied and the Applications running for many
more years to come.
He was born in Karlsruhe, Germany. Started as a steel worker,
graduated as master of financial consulting, quality fresh fruit
exporter to find finally his passion in MacOS and iOS Development.
I truly respect, value and appreciate the software that small app developers like Reggie generate for us. So, I sent a bit of $$ to support Reggie’s family. If you feel inclined to also help his family, here’s how to do that via PayPal:
With respect for Reggie Ashworth and all of the small software developers to help make our computers serve us better…
