Hello wonderful Mac people,
My daughter's old MacBook Pro is on the blink. I've narrowed it down to a bad logic board, but was able to get it started this morning, which is unusual. I'd like to get all of her valuable photos onto an external drive, but her known password and her confirmed Apple ID and password are not working. Could it be that the clock is not reading correctly? I'm unable to correct the time, of course, without passing the login screen.
I used to use Target Disc Mode for this type of thing, but that must be outdated technology now? There are Firewire ports on both my machines and hers.
If I put her hard drive in an enclosure will I be able to access her photos without a password?
The other thing is that she now uses a Widows computer (Booo!), so I Imagine that I'd have to reformat a spare drive that I have here for windows so that she could access them.
I'd very much appreciate any thoughts.
Thank you!
Randy
