Washington food and farm businesses can apply for funds (up to $2,000) to have booth and tabling fees covered at eligible trade shows. The goal of this funding is to reduce barriers of participation at regional markets where vendors have the opportunity to meet buyers and expand their markets. Businesses selling Washington-grown products or products with Washington-grown ingredients are highly encouraged to apply! This is a limited reimbursable funding opportunity. We invite Washington businesses and organizations to attend and provide testimony to their experiences and offer input on policy solutions or specific areas of support you need from your elected officials and wider community.   When: Wed July 16, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Where: Seattle, with virtual option LEARN MORE AND REGISTER   TAKE THE PRE-EVENT SURVEY   NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR FARMERS AND RANCHERS TO SERVE ON USDA FARM SERVICE AGENCY COUNTY COMMITEES Nominations are now being accepted for farmers and ranchers to serve on local U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committees. The County Committees play a significant role in executing and deciding on policy at the local level. Committee members are paid for their time and travel. The time commitment varies by county but is typically only a few hours per month. Courses are offered statewide, online and with Spanish interpretation. This course will cover a broad range of topics including production and markets for today’s small farm! Whether you are just exploring the opportunities available or already have an existing operation, you’ll learn what it takes to create, sustain, and grow a viable small farm.   Course Objectives To gain knowledge of the practical aspects of whole farm planning for a wide variety of enterprises To gain an understanding of the various components of sustainable small-scale farming systems  To gain skills in assessing the feasibility of developing a viable, sustainable, small-scale farming enterprise including how to evaluate personal and family goals, land and personal resources, and environmental outcomes To learn about available resources and support networks for sustainable farming To develop a whole farm plan that meets social, environmental, and financial goals When: Sept. 22nd through Nov. 3rd, Mondays from 6-8 p.m. Where: Online course through Zoom with regional in-person opportunities Cost: $200 registration per farm (up to 3 participants).  (Scholarships available for anyone for whom the course fee is a barrier). LEARN MORE AND REGISTER   FARMER RESOURCES SEED CLEANING TOOLKIT FROM ORGANIC SEED ALLIANCE This is a practical, “how to” guide, for beginning seed growers as well as for experienced growers wishing to increase their scale and efficiency of production to medium-large scale seed growing operations.  ACCESS THE TOOLKIT   INTERACTIVE WATER RIGHTS MAP  Whether you're trying to understand them, trying to get them, or trying to find them, water rights are complicated. The good news? Department of Ecology's Water Resources Program just made finding existing water rights a little easier thanks to a new, interactive water rights web map. With the new web map, users can check to see if there are water rights associated with properties they own or may be interested in buying. They can also check water availability and water limitations such as sub-basin closures or instream flow rules. The web map allows users to search by address, parcel number, or water right document numbers. There are options for searching portions of the map or specific rivers and watersheds. Dónde: curso en línea por Zoom, con oportunidades regionales presenciales Costo: $200 por inscripción por granja (hasta 3 participantes)  (Becas disponibles para  quienes tengan dificultades para cubrir el costo  del curso) OBTENER MÁS INFORMACIÓN Y REGISTRARSE   RECURSOS PARA AGRICULTORES KIT DE HERRAMIENTAS PARA LA LIMPIEZA DE SEMILLAS DE ORGANIC SEED ALLIANCE Esta es una guía práctica, estilo “cómo hacer”, tanto para quienes comienzan a cultivar semillas como para productores experimentados que desean aumentar la escala y eficiencia de su producción hacia operaciones de cultivo de semillas de mediana a gran escala.  ACCEDER AL KIT DE HERRAMIENTAS   MAPA INTERACTIVO DE DERECHOS DE AGUA  Ya sea que esté tratando de entenderlos, obtenerlos o localizarlos, los derechos de agua son complicados. ¿La buena noticia? El Water Resources Program (Programa de Recursos Hídricos) del Department of Ecology acaba de hacer que la búsqueda de derechos de agua existentes sea un poco más sencilla gracias a un nuevo mapa web interactivo. Con el nuevo mapa web, los usuarios pueden verificar si existen derechos de agua asociados a propiedades que poseen o en las que podrían estar interesados en comprar.
