Hello Farmers,

We’ve been working with our partners at the Community Food Co-op and Whatcom Community Foundation to find a way to get funds to flood-affected farming families. The applications through the Co-op’s Farm Fund have just opened. We are so grateful for their quick action and hard work to make this happen. See more information below…

Subject: Now Open! 2026 Farm Fund Flood Response Grant

Hello,

Due to the recent major flooding event, the Community Food Co-op's Farm Fund is supporting the cleanup, stabilization, and rebuilding efforts of local farms. The Farm Fund grant cycle will distribute a limited number of grants up to $5,000 for projects that address emergency flood response, flood recovery, and related immediate farm needs. Farm businesses or farm business support organizations impacted by flooding are encouraged to apply for a Farm Fund grant.

About the Farm Fund: The volunteer Farm Fund committee is comprised of local farmers and food advocates that work toward strengthening the market for organic and sustainable agriculture in Whatcom County. The Farm Fund has provided $878k+ to local food and farming projects through grants, loans, scholarships, and emergency funds since 2000. 100% of donations through the Co-op go straight to our local farming community.

Apply to the "2026 Farm Fund Flood Response Grant":

  • Community Food Co-op's Farm Fund
    • English Deadline for submissions: February 8, 2026. Due to immediate need, the Farm Fund Committee may review applications sooner, as time allows.
    • Español Fecha límite para aplicar: 8 de febrero de 2026. Debido a la necesidad inmediata, el Comité del Farm Fund podría revisar las solicitudes antes de esta fecha, según lo permita el tiempo.

Support fundraising:

  1. Spread the word!
  2. Give at the Co-op registers with our "Making Change at the Check Out" program
  3. Donate online to the Farm Fund
  4. Give a tax deductible gift through Whatcom Community Foundation

For questions or more information, contact the Farm Fund at farm...@communityfood.coopor 360-734-8158 ext. 317.

It would be good to know what outreach has been/is being done so we don’t deluge farmers with info they already have. Thanks!!!
