Hi! I checked the google calendar for the next group meeting, but it keeps telling me I don't have permission to view it. I'd like to meet other people here in Bellingham who are using Python and see what's  going on here in Hamsterville Python-wise.
Thanks,
Michael E.

Hi Michael:

The group has been inactive for a while now. You might be able to connect with others via one of the lists at http://www.tagnw.org/resources/special-interest-groups/.

At one point we tried to merge this group in with one or two other open-source programming groups to create a Bellingham Web Developers group (focused on Python, Ruby & Javascript), but from the look of things that fizzled out and was renamed to Bellingham OpenHack: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/bellingham-openhack. There are probably some local pythonistas who still lurk on the mailing list (& perhaps go to the open hacks). I lurk there, but I'm more node/js focused these days.

(Just a note from the peanut gallery)
I certainly enjoyed the Python work sessions. I think they worked well.

As a startup ecosystem development guy, I found those to be really good community building events. The hard part is that you have to cultivate group leadership across several people's shoulders.

I bet there are many people who would re-engage with a python event or event a polyglot event if there were some core group of leaders who would willing to do the schlepping.

I have to say that I'd still be interested in attending group meetings. I
had to pull out awhile back due to time constraints (which still could be
an issue for me), but my use for python in the work environment has grown
as I am almost programming full time now. However, I still feel far from
being proficient, and would like an opportunity to learn from other
pythonistas. My ability to attend, unfortunately, will largely depend upon
the day of the week.

Does anyone know if there are any professors at one of the local colleges
that teaches python? Perhaps it would be ideal to ping such a person about
hosting/leading the group? Just throwing ideas out there...

The Technology Alliance Group couldn't lead the group at this time, but could provide meeting space downtown (after hours) if needed.

I am definitely looking for some python community around. I'd attend just about anything outside the 9-5 weekday work hours.

I'd be interested as well. I have been experimenting with ruby on rails lately, but would not mind exploring django for a project. At work, I do html/css/js mostly, but have taken a few online python classes.
