BURLINGTON LIBRARY TOURNAMENT SERIES
MARCH 15, APRIL 12, MAY 17The Burlington Public Library is hosting a series of three Saturday afternoon Scholastic Chess Tournaments this spring in its large Conference Room on March 15 and May 17. The April 12th tournament will be in Gentry Room and Fireplace area tables. Each of these tournaments will have three rounds and will be NWSRS rated. Swiss Pairings will be used, which means everyone playing will play all three rounds. USCF official rules will be used. Tournament Director is Randy Walther, Sehome and Bellingham HS chess clubs coach.
The event will be open to scholastic chess players from 3rd grade to 12th grade, who already know how to play chess and are able to record their moves using chess notation. (Not hard to learn!)
All players must register to play in advance via email to
randyw...@msn.com BEFORE the day of the tournament. TD will confirm all entries via email. Maximum of 32 players.
The entry fee is free. You will be expected to help set up and clean up afterwards.
Check-in will be from 12:10 to 12:25pm. Do not be late! The 1st round will start at 12:30 pm or as soon as possible after check-in is closed. Round 2 scheduled to start at 1:40pm and Round 3 should start at 2:50pm. Time Control: 30 Minutes/Game with a 5 second delay. Recording the moves of your games is required until one player's time in under five minutes.
Tournament Chess sets, boards and score sheets will be provided by the TD. Bring your digital delay chess clocks if you own one. Everyone must bring their own writing instrument.

SEHOME 2nd 2A, MERIDIAN 2nd 1A, BLAINE 3rd 1APhoto Album, Full Results Here319 chessplayers converged upon Lincoln Hill HIgh School in Stanwood on Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1st, to socialize, have fun, and compete in the 58th annual Washington State High School Chess Team Championships. Lakeside (Seattle) earned the Grand Champion title, with Skyline (Sammamish) 2nd and Newport (Bellevue) 3rd. Local teams fared well also, with Sehome placing 2nd in 2A, Meridian 2nd in 1A, and Blaine 3rd in 1A.
