LYNDEN YOUTH CHESS CLUB KICKOFF!
TUESDAY, JULY 30
FOR FIVE WEEKS, AT LYNDEN LIBRARY

Below is the blurb from the Lynden Youth Chess facebook page, check it out!  

"Kids! Play and Learn CHESS at Lynden Library on Tuesday evenings. Whether you are completely new to chess or an avid player, there will be fun challenges and play opportunities for school kids of all ages. Best of all it’s free, sponsored by ChessHouse.com of Lynden and hosted by the Lynden Public Library. Ferndale and other Whatcom schools are welcome to join in.

SPECIAL GUEST National Master Elliott Neff of Chess4Life will be part of kick off on Week 1, July 30.

Meets will be 2 hours each Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 for 5 weeks from July 30 to August 27.

To participate, please RSVP this event here on the club's Facebook group AND COMMENT with 

1. Name and Age of player(s) coming on July 30.
2. Estimated Chess knowledge level (based on Chess4Life programs)
A. Pawn Level: learning the piece movement/special rules
B. Knight Level: can do some checkmates and tactics such as pins/forks; 
C. Bishop Level: knows some basic strategy/planning
D. Rook/Queen/King Levels: Advanced

Several adults and organizers will be overseeing the event. If you wish to stay and watch you are welcome to. If you want to drop off your child, you may do so as well. 

If you would like to volunteer or help out where best suited, please indicate as well!"

(I might add that the special guest, NM Elliott Neff, got to play the World Champion Vishy Anand, and it ended up being a tie game!)

TONIGHT: THURSDAY, JULY 25
HOT SUMMER CHESS GRAND PRIX V
FERNDALE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Basically every Thursday eve this summer, except August 8.
Must show up BEFORE 6pm to play!
For youth K-12th grades, at the Ferndale Library.
Players are placed in sections of four players, with others of equal rating.
Big Trophies to Top Five, at the final meet on Aug. 22.
