http://northwestchess.info/dogdays25.htmlFor players 2nd grade to 12th grade, beginners welcome! Players are placed in groups with others of similar experience, based on ratings. You can play in one, some, or all four. Whoever racks up the most wins in all four tournaments wins the Grand Prix. There are prizes at each individual Grand Prix tourney as well. Players must sign up for each one in advance (by the night before), separately, then check in on tourney day between 3:30pm and 4:00pm. The first three are on Wednesdays, the last one on a Tuesday.

BURLINGTON LIBRARY TOURNEY
THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 9
FREE, REGISTER IN ADVANCECome play! The last of the Burlington Public Library Saturday afternoon Scholastic Chess Tournaments this summer is on August 9. The tournament room will be the Burlington Hill side of its large Conference Room which is the side closest to the main entrance. Each of these tournaments will have three rounds and will be NWSRS rated. Swiss Pairings will be used, which means everyone playing will play all three rounds. USCF official rules will be used. Tournament Director: Randy Walther.
The event will be open to scholastic chess players from 3rd grade to 12th grade. This event is for players that already know how to play chess and are able to record their games' moves using chess notation. (You can learn in advance,
here.)
Register in advance via email to
randyw...@msn.com before the day of the tournament. Entries will be confirmed via email. 32 players maximum.
The entry fee is free. You will be expected to help set up and clean up afterwards.
Check-in will be from 12:10 to 12:25pm. Do not be late! The 1st round will start at 12:30pm or as soon as possible after check-in is closed. Round 2 scheduled to start at 1:40pm and Round 3 should start at 2:50pm. Time Control: 30 Minutes/Game with a 5 second increment. Recording the moves of your games is required until one player's time in under five minutes.
Tournament chess sets, boards and score sheets will be provided by the TD. Bring your digital delay chess clocks if you own one. Everyone must bring their own writing instrument.

WHATCOM GIRLS CHESS CLUB
THIS SUNDAY AUGUST 10, 3pm, FERNDALE LIBRARYThe WGCC is back in Ferndale after a stint at the Lynden Library. Come for friends, snacks, hijinks and smiles at the Ferndale Library, Sunday from 3pm to 5pm, free. Coach Jacob is hosting, and Coach Megan is our girls chess club mentor this month.
