Unlike many local tournaments, the ChessFest features four sections: K-2, 3-4, 5th grade, Middle School (6-8th grades).  And it's the only one with bleachers in the playing area, so parents can watch. (Or knit, or read, or pray.)

Newly announced -- mark your calendars now!  With this tourney added, there are now four remaining local Saturday tournaments available for area students to compete in.  At Eagleridge Elementary in Ferndale.  Registration open soon.

The top seven teams have qualified to compete in the 60th annual Washington State High School Chess Team Championships, being held February 27 and 28 at Mariner High School in Everett.  The tournament features about 50 of the best high school chess teams from all around Washington State.  Good luck NWL teams!
