For players 2nd grade to 12th grade. You can play in one, some, or all four. Whoever racks up the most wins in all four tournaments wins the Grand Prix. There are prizes at each individual Grand Prix tourney as well. Four irregular dates and times, so mark them carefully on your calendar, and sign up for each one individually.

https://burlington.librarycalendar.com/event/youth-chess-tournament-7333The Burlington Public Library is hosting a series of three Saturday afternoon Scholastic Chess Tournaments this summer on June 28, July 12 and August 9. The tournament room will be the Burlington Hill side of its large Conference Room which is the side closest to the main entrance. Each of these tournaments will have three rounds and will be NWSRS rated. Swiss Pairings will be used, which means everyone playing will play all three rounds. USCF official rules will be used. Tournament Director: Randy Walther.
The event will be open to scholastic chess players from 3rd grade to 12th grade. This event is only for players that already know how to play chess and are able to record their games' moves using chess notation.
All players must register to play in advance via email to
randyw...@msn.com BEFORE the day of the tournament. The TD will confirm all entries via email. Maximum of 32 players.
The entry fee is free. Please help set up and clean up afterwards.
Check-in will be from 12:10 to 12:25pm. Do not be late! The 1st round will start at 12:30 pm or as soon as possible after check-in is closed. Round 2 scheduled to start at 1:40pm and Round 3 should start at 2:50pm. Time Control: 30 Minutes/Game with a 5 second increment. Recording the moves of your games is required until one player's time in under five minutes.
Tournament Chess sets, boards and score sheets will be provided by the TD. Bring your digital delay chess clocks if you own one. Everyone must bring their own writing instrument.

Then come learn how to play the ultimate strategy game, chess! We'll go over how the pieces move; strategy and tactics; how to record and learn from your games; how to make computer chess work for you; and how, where, and why to play in tournaments. And, of course, we'll spend plenty of time playing the game and learning from each other. Prerequisite: must know or learn how the six pieces move before class begins.
