2.
HIGH SCHOOL STATE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
HS ALL COMERS TOURNAMENT
AT MOUNT VERNON HIGH SCHOOL
FEBRUARY 28-29, 2020

Info and to register: http://www.whsca.org/
This is the two day Big Dance and season-ender for the high school chess season around the State.  Teams qualify out of their respective leagues and play for State Championship hardware, in a team 5 vs 5 format.  Usually it's near Seattle, but this year, we get to host!

High schoolers whose team didn't qualify for State, or individual HS players without a team, also get to play in the State All-Comers Tournament, held concurrently.  There are two divisions, and new players are welcome.

3.
JOHNATHON DENNIS OF SEHOME IS HS STATE PREMIER CHAMP
SEHOME 3rd, FERNDALE 5th AT HS STATE INDIVIDUAL TOURNEY

Johnathon Dennis of Sehome captured 1st Place Premier at the 2020 Washington State High School Individual Chess Championships held Jan. 24-25 at Lakeside (Seattle), and the Sehome Team took 3rd Place Overall.
After two days and ten slow games, Johnathon was tied for first. He then played a two game speed chess match (five minutes per side) with Cannon Doncaster of Richland H.S. for the championship.  You can watch most of the first game here, and the second, deciding game here.  Good chess Johnathon, well done!

(use tabs at bottom for the three divisions)
