Early bird discount if you register by Nov. 24.
It's a family chess festival party, come join the action! Four playing sections: K-1 (pre-k welcome also), 2-3, 4-5 and 6-8th grades. Trophies for top five players in each section, top three teams, medals to all first time tournament players and to State Qualifiers (those scoring at least three wins.) Concessions will be available on site. Check-in begins at 8:15 am and ends sharply at 8:45 am. First round begins at 9:00 am. Pizza orders will be taken for delivery at lunch. This is a fundraiser for Boy Scout Troop 4016's summer canoeing trip in Minnesota in August.

2019 WASHINGTON STATE MINI-TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIPS
NOVEMBER 16, 2019, AT SEATTLE PREP
The Washington State MiniTeams Championship last Saturday Nov. 16 saw 26 middle school and high school teams of three descend upon Seattle Preparatory School to battle it out for fun, fame, experience, rating points and hardware.
When the dust settled, the Overlake HS squad claimed clear first with 14.0 points out of a possible 15.0, only giving up two draws. Well done, Fighting Owls, State MiniTeams Champions!
In second, Bainbridge HS scored 11.5, and Garfield HS grabbed third with 11.0.
Eleven teams from the Northwest League came to join in the action against the best high schools in Washington. Here's their results:

You can see the final crosstable in the photo album here, along with a few short videos. The longest video shows some exciting Round 4 time scrambles on Table 1 between Lakeside and Overlake. Can you play an entire middlegame and endgame with less than ten seconds on both clocks? And three queens on the board? With a 5-second delay, you can!
Many thanks to Seattle Prep for hosting. Great playing rooms, and the nearby pizza was superb!
