Aloha Mila,
I would like to voice my opinion that the storage of SUP boards in fromt of Tower 1 is totally inappropriate and ugly.  That area is a common element for owners, not for activity center rentals.  I have mentioned to you before that the racks are inappropriate for our common area.  Now you have increased the storage!  Please have all of these racks removed immediately.  I appreciate your prompt attention to having this attempt at adverse possession eliminated as soon as possible.
Thank you very much,
Ethel Grant

Thanks for your quick response.  However, the racks are not appropriate for owners or guests to store their SUP boards in front of Tower 1.   Does that mean any owner/ guest that has a kayack, huge raft, atv, etc. should store their personal property on our decks, bbq areas, lawn areas, etc.?  When we were in Maui for owner's week, not one single SUP was in the storage rack.  Why is it even there?  It is not ok to take up that space and create an eyesore of our common area.  Please remove the racks immediately.
Thank you,
Ethel Grant

Aloha Ethel,

Thank you for sharing your views and concerns. As a point of clarification, the SUP and Surfboard racks were installed for the use of all Owners and Guests of the Whaler. The racks in front of Tower 1 are not designated storage for the Pool Hale or the beach activity vendor operations.

Any Owners and Guests who are staying on property and are actively using their SUPs and surfboards are encouraged to store the equipment at the designated area rather than in the individual units in order to  prevent wear and tear and damage to our elevators, stairwells, common area halls, and individual unit interiors. SUPs and surfboards are long, bulky, and heavy, making it a challenge to move them in and out with ease and with no collateral damage. Finally, active storage near the beach, being mere steps away from the ocean, would likely be the most convenient active storage location for Whaler Guests and Owners.

I hope this helps to explain the rationale behind the SUP and Surfboard racks for active storage.

Dear Ethel:

I, as an owner, have to say that the tone of your email to Mila was “inappropriate”.  You are welcome to your feelings about things at The Whaler but there are many other owners besides you.  I walked by and thought “what a great idea” and now even thinking about buying a SUB as being older, I didn’t want to luge one around!  And there have been many boarders out this last week too as the ocean has been magnificently calm!  Whatever your feelings are, your tone  to Mila was offensive to me and I think you should apologize to her.  She works hard and does a great job.  I have lived here six years now and the Whaler has improved 100 percent under her care and guidance.  You might think about if you would want someone to talk to you in that manner.  Aloha  Di  863

I totally agree that we should have a convenient place for the boards.   I do not want owners/guests bringing them in the hallway scratching the elevators and putting them in my condo. I would assume that other owners would not want that either. We are on the beach!

Hello Di,
Thank you for your input.  I have told Mila many times that she is doing a great job at the Whaler.  This rack is not appropriate in our common areas.  I am pretty sure guests don't bring their personal SUP on a plane, attach them to their rental cars and then store them at The Whaler.  I don't think owners should store their private property on our patio either.  And, I certainly don't think that the activity center should store their rentals there either.  It is not a pleasing site to see this unsightly rack.  Please see attached photo.

So we went to court last week- what was the verdict?
I still have 3 weeks blocked out in Sept- can my wife and I come over and stay the 3 weeks?
It is our 50th anniversary and we need to know?
Is the schedule still the same?
Why the lack of updates and dialogue
Dave Senior should also be giving us updates
Hope all went well and thanks so much Bill Allred for going over and supporting us
Please let us know
