Aloha Whaler Owners,


I hope this email finds you well. 

 The Annual Owner meeting next month is coming right up.  At this meeting three board director terms are ending and three new directors will be elected by the owners for a new three year term.

Both Rob Steinebel and Ralph Ricciardi are running for another term.  Is anyone else planning running for a Director position?

I will be attending the meeting in person.  If you are an owner who is unable to attend the annual meeting and looking for someone to represent your interest,  I would be happy to be your proxy to cast your vote. Please message me privately. 

The proxy form is due to Destination Maui office by Wednesday, May 20 at 4:30pm.  It must be filled out properly to be counted. 

Please read the meeting notice you received! Amongst other motions, Owners will be voting to approve online voting for future meetings. In the past, this measure failed to pass.

Going to reply all (despite my normal opposition to replying all), I am giving my proxy to Cindy!  I belive (from her actions on the board) that Cindy recognizes the fiduciary responsibility of elected board members to represent all owners.  I trust Cindy to continue as a responsible board member and to use the proxies given to her for the best possible results for The Whaler owners.

Let’s stay away from the campaigning. Somehow this owner thread has slipped from an information based resource to a marketing and partisan board member  tool. 

Also, It is clear that we need to get into this day and age with HOA owner voting. I am sure some of you have other associations that utilize online voting by electronic ballot. That type of portal allows candidate statements, ballot agenda details and e-voting to be in one location accessed by a link for authentication login. It also improves voting participation and quorum. 

Maybe that could be an agenda item at next meeting so we can implement after this last archaic paper based proxy  system is used at the next meeting.

Remote electronic voting will be on the agenda at the upcoming owner’s meeting. If it passes owners will be able to choose whether to vote themselves via a link or give their proxy to someone. This especially allows owners who cannot attend in person to cast their own vote. I was tasked with gathering info on this option for owners. We discussed this at the last Board meeting and the Board agreed it should be brought forward for owners to vote on at the May meeting. Please let me know if you have questions. I look forward to seeing some of you at the meeting next month!

Aloha Mike,

This owner forum is for owners to communicate amongst each other.   Providing upcoming meeting information and offering to be a proxy for the meeting is not campaigning.  I am not running for a board position.  

Even so, owners can campaign or say what they want here, as long as it follows the forum guidelines.  

The information DMI sent on the upcoming motions including electronic voting.  It is in the packet that was sent.

As the person who runs this group, I don't see any problem with people discussing elections, candidates, board issues, etc. It's not just for owners who are looking for available condos. The only rules are (a) it has to be related to the Whaler, and (b) personal attacks and rudeness are not permitted.

An idea.  As the moderator of the group, and to keep everyone on track, maybe an annual group message guideline - ‘do’s and don’ts’ refresher.
