Whatcom All-Ages Arts and Music (WhAAM) and Make.Shift Find a New Home

Bellingham, WA (November 30, 2010) -- Whatcom All-Ages Arts and Music (WhAAM) and Make.Shift are announcing that both non-profit organizations will be moving into a new location at 111 Unity Street.

“After searching for over eight months, we finally found our new home, and everyone involved couldn’t be more pleased,” said Amanda Kalkwarf, 2009-2010 WhAAM President. “In addition to all-ages concerts, this space will offer art classes and workshops, low-cost practice spaces, a ‘zine library, and a resource center for local musicians and artists.”

“Both organizations are so excited to start creating a music and arts hub,” said Cat Sieh, Make.Shift Director. “This partnership will make it possible for WHAAM and Make.Shift reach our common goals.”

Significant renovations must be completed before the Unity St. location space opens. Doors could be open as early as spring, or as soon as the necessary improvements are completed. Both organizations will be working hard to fundraise for these improvements in the coming months, and hope to raise at least $10,000 by the end of February.

Check out our video about this project, and contribute toward the new space directly at www.makeshiftproject.com or www.kickstarter.com/projects/makeshift/the-makeshift-music-project/. Credit card, PayPal and Amazon payments are gratefully accepted.

As always, WhAAM and Make.Shift welcome financial or in-kind contributions toward their goals. Because they are 501(c)(3) non-profits, donations to both organizations are tax deductible. We gladly accept donations by experienced community members of their knowledge and skills to help us renovate the space.
