Dear Students,

 

Please find attached, the pdf files pertaining to the chapter that is being taught in the class room presently by the undersigned.

It is advised that you download the files and read up.  You are welcome to ask questions in the class if there is any problem in understanding.(1,2 files) File umber 3 and 4 are  supplements from other texts. The last attachment is the ppt that is done so far.

 

Financial Management being a new concept you may find it little difficult to understand.  However, if you practice the questions and answers and the quizzes that are done in the class, it should not be difficult to understand.

Dear Students,

 

Greetings.

 

We are  very happy to listen to your positive remarks for the subject BHM 304 Financial Management during the course committee meeting today.

While finance is the back-bone of any industry, it cannot be disregarded for hospitality industry. It is understood that the students find the subject ‘difficult’.  It is well known that the subject is considered tough,  especially for a mixed batch of students ranging from arts, humanities, sciences and commerce 

 

Please note

1.       “Financial management” is not accounting.  It is based on accounting statements.  Finance is much beyond accounting.  These are managerial concepts which are required for a Management student

2.       A lot of “NEW’ theoretical concepts are to be understood, beyond accounting.  Very fundamental concepts are explained in your classes. 

Financial Management is an ocean of knowledge.

3.       Problems are found in later chapters, and not in initial chapters.

 

Keeping this in mind different approach is being adopted to help you learn. 

 

1.The theoretical concepts have been emailed in advance.  (They are again being forwarded along with this email, for your convenience.)

2.Excercises are being devised to work as group activities

3.We are almost into one month, but the topics are going very slow. 

4.MCQs are being discussed in class.

5.Small numerical examples  are being devised to help students understand theory.

 

We need your cooperation as stated below:

 

       1.Without effort from your side, it will be difficult to understand the concepts. So make an earnest effort.

2.Read the material that has been sent to you in advance.

3.Ask questions in the class if not clear.

4.Read the prescribed text book if you do not follow the pdfs sent to you.

5.Refer to internet.  If there are very good videos, bring it to the attention of the faculty.

       6.Come to class regularly. Missing classes will make learning difficult.  If you miss a class, learn from your friends.

       7.Listen and take down lecture notes.

 

For helping you further, the following  assistance is being offered.

               

Every day from 4.30 to 5.30, you can meet the undersigned, for learning in  small groups.
