Hey Everyone,
I have received a call from Steve Furr this morning, letting me know that they were having to change some of their plans due to the church, and after the obit had already been printed in the paper. What is going to happen now.....there will be visitation on Tuesday August 17th, from 5-7 pm at the Guilford College Forbis and Dick on West Friendly Avenue.....the service will remain on Wednesday Aug 18 at 11:00a.m, with the burial following in Westminster Garden off Whitehurst Road....which is off Westridge road (go to the very end of the road and left into the cemetery .

Please pass the word to anyone that you know that would have been attending the visitation.

Thanks,
Cynthia

Subject: WGHS : Furr and Bearden

Hey Everyone,
It is once again a sad time for our community, and this one comes in two's unfortunately. Steve Furr lost his dad, Sandy Furr the morning of August 4th. Steve's brother, Bryan was class of '79. This family has been in the Guilford College area for ever....growing up in the huge neighborhood off New Garden at Wil Doskey (not sure if the neighborhood had a proper name or not) Sandy was a quiet man upon meeting him, but he could get some "zingers" in when you least expected it. A very loving man, that simply adored his family. I am really blessed to be able to say that I grew up with this family. Steve has shared the arrangements with me to pass along to classmates : Service will be held on Wed. 8.18.21 @ 11 a.m; @ St Paul's on Horse Pen Creek Road; visitation will follow after the service. If you would like to send Steve a note of support, please put WG in the subject line.....and his email is : stephe...@conehealth.com

Our second family to suffer a loss happened on the same day, but late in the evening on August 4th....Lisa Bearden Sloan lost her mother Betty. Her siblings are Jeff Bearden ('79) and Julie Bearden Merritt. This family has supported their mom thru her battle with Alzheimer's.... which several of us know first hand is not an easy battle. Betty was a funny lady, quick on the wit, and even quicker on the laugh. I was also blessed to have grown up around Betty in my high school years. Even got to room with her at her granddaughter/ my god daughter's UNCW graduation....what a hoot that was. I loved this lady, as she taught me many things that I have used thru the years. Lisa has shared the arrangements with me to pass along to classmates : Service will be held on Monday 8.9.21 @ 2 pm...visitation will be at 1:00pm at the Heritage Memorial Garden in Westminister, SC  (Betty grew up in this area). If you would like to send Lisa a note of support, please again put WG in the subject line....and her email is : Lisab...@yahoo.com

Our community is truly taking a hit this year with at least 11 families having to deal with the sorrow of losing a loved one. Please take a minute to reach out to these two classmates and offer up support to them, as they handle the sad days ahead of them.

Thanking you in advance.
Cynthia
