Hi All,

!!!! REMINDER - we will be hanging out at 11:00 central !!!!

*Please* try and attend, particularly if you are not going to be
available tomorrow.

By the end of the day I will be handing things off to anyone who wants
to make changes. I plan to spend 1-2 hours tomorrow reading over the
final draft before I submit the grant.

Some editing points:

* Note the length restrictions. If you don't see your ideas there it
may be because of size restrictions.
* Can someone please move the participants table to the base of the
document (so it is not lost), then copy the information in it reformat
it as in-line text to save space (Guarav?). Note that the inline
version does not need several of the columns. Thank you.
* Anyone can take a stab at writing text for the collaborations part-
you understand these better than I.

The hangout is here (I'll be lurking there all day, if you see a black
window wait for a second):

https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/f3b77a7a072462e6fdfc9f710a77e02f80eb7f0a?authuser=0&hl=en#

See you at 11 central.

I expect to be there.

Just so that all are aware:  I have been following Matt through the text, reducing length and smoothing it out.  I have got as far as Workshop 1.  I expect to continue this tonight and first thing tomorrow so that by noon or so tomorrow, Matt has a reasonably nice version for the last read through.

Please be cautious and make sure any amendments are in a form that can be part of the submitted document (i.e. no comments above workshop 1, no dialog among ourselves).

I recommend an agenda for the Hangout, as a long discussion takes time away from writing, and the writing is now the most important task.

Paddy

Oops- regarding the participant table- please do not move it inline-
drop it out to excel, format it nicely so that we can dump as PDF, we
will add it as supplementary material.

Who is or will be (besides Gaurav) at NESCent that we could make use
of? Do we know of other post-docs, scholars etc. that might be there?
Who do we know in the IT staff that we could suggest would help us?

If someone is looking for mindless edits- we need to create acronyms
where needed ("Encyclopedia of Life (EOL)") upon first use and then
use those acronyms throughout the document.

I am at St. Louis at BHL my connection by some reason is not very good. I will attend unless technical issues will prevail.

There's an incoming new staff that would be perfect for supporting this group, but it won't be official before tomorrow. Just say that the Informatics group has considerable expertise in several of the areas involved (ontology development and mapping, logic modeling and reasoning, taxonomy reconciliation, consolidation, and cross-linking).

Just made a quick run through for mindless edits -- just want to make sure we're consistent in capitalization too.  Does this list look right?
CoL
OToL
MoL
EOL
BiSciCol
GnA <-- this was the only one that looked a little odd to me.  Ought all letters be capitalized?

These look fine to me!

http://globalnames.org/about_GNA uses GNA, so I think all-caps makes sense!

cheers,
Gaurav

We are at 12 participants (suggested is 10-12).

Let's take a hard look at the participant list- can we achieve our
goals with this team (I think so)?

I see originally an iDigBio member was target- a informatics/"doer"
from their effort would be welcome. Thoughts?

Gaurav- can you share your participant list google doc (but view only-
you maintain the edits)?

Stepping out for 30-45.

I really apologize for not having been able to take part in te
drafting, but the past week I was entirely busy with preparing for our
Site Visit. I've just wrote to Guillaume Jimenez (gjim...@fsu.edu)
who is one of the developers with iDigBio and I think that he's
probably be the best person to work with.
