About the Summit of NATO on November 19 -20 / La Cumbre de la OTAN que tendrá lugar el 19 y 20 de Noviembre

In 1949, the capitalist states founded NATO in order to overthrow the correlation of forces that had taken place in Europe against imperialism. NATO acted as a mechanism of violence and repression of the labour – popular movement, as an enemy of the right of every people to choose their own path of development.
NATO, in order to justify its existence as an suppression mechanism, in order to support the new imperialist wars, the interventions and in order to justify the so – called “humanitarian wars”, adopted the so – called “terrorism” and “extremism”.
The Summit on November 19 -20 aims :
to legalize operations against people, in case there is an internal threat of civil authority in a NATO member-state.
to strengthen the imperialist military operations like these in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan etc.
to broaden the control of markets in cooperation with other imperialist forces besides NATO.
to act for the formation of the state apparatus (police and army)
to expand the so – called “preventive wars”.
PAME calls upon the working class and the other popular strata of our country to contribute to the anti – imperialist struggle and to thicken the lines of the anti- imperialist movement.
PAME expresses its solidarity with the struggle of the CGTP - In of Portugal and support the demonstration against the NATO Summit, which will be held in Lisbon.

El año 1949 los estados capitalistas fundaron la OTAN para cambiar la correlación de fuerzas en Europa, que era desfavorable respecto al imperialismo. LA OTAN funcionó como mecanismo de violencia y represión del movimiento obrero- popular, como enemigo de que cada pueblo escogiera su propio camino de desarrollo.
Para que la OTAN justificara la existencia de mecanismos de represión, para que se apoyaran las nuevas guerras imperialistas, se adoptó el vocabulario de “terrorismo” y “extremismo”.
La Cumbre que tendrá lugar el 19 y 20 de Noviembre apunta a:
Legalizar la intervención contra los pueblos en caso de amenaza interna del poder burgués- miembro de la OTAN.
Reforzar las intervenciones imperialistas (por ejemplo en Iraq, Afganistan, Somalia, Pakistán etc).
Ampliar el control de los mercados en colaboración con otras fuerzas imperialistas, que no perteneczan a la OTAN.
Actuar a favor de la formación de mecanismos estatales (policia y ejército).
Aumentar las llamadas “Guerras Preventivas”.
El PAME hace un llamamiento a la clase obrera y los demás estratos populares del país para que contribuyan a la lucha antiimperialista y que se sumen a las líneas del movimiento antiimperialista.
Además expresa su solidaridad con la lucha de la CGTP - In de Portugal y apoya la manifestación contra la Cumbre de la OTAN que tendrá lugar en Lisboa.
