THE 29 MINERS TO BE RESCUED INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY FOR THE RESCUE OF 29 MINER WORKERS TRAPPED IN THE A COAL MINE NEAR ATARAU IN THE SOUTH ISLAND OF NEW ZEALAND

The WFTU representing over 72 million union members across the 5 continents expresses its solidarity for the rescue of the 29 miners trapped 150 meters deep in a gallery of a coal mine near Atarau on South Island in New Zealand, after a gas explosion occurred on November 19th.

This incident joins a long list of mining accidents, due to the lack of security measures provided by the companies and it represents an example of the dire consequences of capitalist exploitation and anti-labor policies. The health and safety at work is a fundamental duty for which the class-oriented trade union movement is struggling.

We demand every effort to be made for the rescue of the 29 miners, among whom is a young 17 year old worker, and to take all necessary measures to avoid this type accident to happen again.

The FSM is following with interest the events taking place in Atarau mine in New Zealand. We express our internationalist solidarity and full support for the trapped miners, their families, friends and colleagues and hope the rescue to be carried out successfully as soon as possible.

On the occasion of these tragic circumstances, we call upon all trade unions to strengthen their struggle for the implementation of SECURITY MEASURES. The life of workers is the most precious thing in the World. We must give long struggle for the security measures in the working places.

QUE SALVEN A LOS 29 MINEROS SOLIDARIDAD INTERNACIONAL POR EL RESCATE DE LOS 29 OBREROS MINEROS ATRAPADOS EN EL YACIMIENTO ATARAU EN LA ISLA SUR DE NUEVA ZELANDA

La Federación Sindical Mundial –FSM- en representación de más de 70 millones de trabajadores afiliados de los 5 continentes expresa su solidaridad, por el rescate de los 29 compañeros mineros atrapados a 150 metros de profundidad en una galería del yacimiento de Atarau en la isla Sur de Nueva Zelanda, tras la explosión de gas grisú ocurrida el pasado 19 de noviembre.

Este accidente se suma a la larga lista a accidentes ocurridos en la minería, consecuencia de la falta de las medidas de seguridad proporcionadas por las empresas del sector y representa una ejemplo de las funestas consecuencias de la explotación capitalista y las políticas antilaborales. La salud y seguridad en el trabajo es un deber fundamental por el que lucha el movimiento sindical clasista

Exigimos que se haga todo lo posible para rescatar a estos 29 trabajadores mineros, entre los que se encuentra un joven de tan sólo 17 años y que se tomen las medidas necesarias para que no vuelva a ocurrir un accidente de estas características.

Desde la FSM seguimos con verdadero interés los acontecimientos que tienen lugar en la mina de Atarau en Nueva Zelanda. Expresamos nuestra solidaridad internacionalista y pleno apoyo a los mineros atrapados, a sus familias, amigos y compañeros y deseamos que el rescate se lleve a cabo con éxito lo más pronto posible.

Con motivo de este trágico incidente hacemos un llamado a todos los sindicatos a que refuercen la lucha por la toma de MEDIDAS DE SEGURIDAD. La vida de los trabajadores es el bien más preciado del mundo. Llamamos a la lucha continua por las medidas de seguridad en los centros de trabajo.
