Each "idea" should have a title, description, vote up/down option and place for people to put in their comments, right?
What is a page-wide look?
Also, will it be possible for us to have a page-wide look in Drupal?
Single column is possible by removing the sidebar blocks. In that case the content column will stretch to take up the available area.
Entire screen width (fluid width) is not possible with the present theme. The present one uses fixed widths for different screen sizes. If we need a fluid width, like Ubuntu Women wiki, we will need to use/write a different theme.
Tarashish, Openshift has a specific API which you will need to use to
code your site. However, if your site/application is coded to work with
openshift, it cannot be used in other hosts without a large change in
the code.
I am not experienced with Openshift though. If there are other
developers here willing to port the present code to Openshift, I'll be
glad to assist and learn in the process.
Thanks.

Ok. Changing the code for just a specific platform would be totally
unnecessary. And also, we probably don't have any other php developer here.
1. colours: top-border, link, site name
2. content: layout for homepage, or, text for "Who we are?" block on homepage and the "About" page. For all other pages.
3. menu items: top level items.
4. user registration: will it be admin-moderated?
Innerpages are single column as Satabdi had asked. Also, I have added styles for larger screen sizes. So, the theme will stretch for 1600px and above as well.
I've requested webfaction support to install a mailing list at wfs-india-discuss@wfs-india.org. I've give Satabdi's email address as the admin for the list. If everything goes smoothly, the list should be installed by tomorrow.
Satabdi, Mani, please send me a list of users to add as moderators. Best is to register on the site on your own and send me the id's to assign proper roles.
Waiting for loads of feedback.
Thanks.

Yes we can. But shall we keep all the content that I have put on the home page presently?
I really like the way Mailing List comes in a box. But the things on
right of the mailing list and below "who are we" seem a little cluttered.
To experiment, can we shrink the width of the left most column and see
how it looks?
Keep both. News flash would be where you post some important news about WFS-india. Event may be something which WFS-IN or some other organization hosts. Do you mean publishing feeds from other sites?
Few thoughts:
1. Should we have a news flash section or an Events calendar or both? We
can publicize events, conferences, hackfests etc in FOSS world
2. If we can make something like http://jobs.hasgeek.com/ [1] for the
jobs section - where only FOSS related opportunities will be publicized -
it will remove one responsibility from our shoulder - we can then only
moderate the entries posted by various organizations.
In the jobs section we can also include - internship opportunities like
GSoC and OPW.
I can pipe feeds from other sites into a section called "Jobs". At the present, Jobs needs manual input.
+1. I'll remove excess clutter. Later on we can modify the looks, but for now I'll keep things simple.
I'll make things ready for you to start adding content.
My idea of a NewsFlash was more like "news" from WFS-India, that is neither a event nor a casual writing. e.g. members of WFS-India getting selected for GSoc can be a "news". "NewsFlash" is just a flashy name for it. :-)
A calendar layout can make things look very empty if you don't have many events. So I would suggest you keep the Events page a blog-like view similar to other categories for now. Later on, we can do a calendar.
An events calendar will contain all the FOSS events that we come to know
of. It will display the hackfests, hackathons, conferences, workshops in
FOSS and will also include the events organized by us.
May be we can have something like this -
