Hi All,

Ok, so I have transferred what is the most critical information (i.e. how to play virtually) to the PHP board made available to us by Alex. While we will loose the opportunity to reply by email to a post, we gain the advantages of PHP boards. Please provide feedback. Hopefully you like it, otherwise we will be back here ;). The boards are ready for your posts.

  • It'll be great if those of you who are running campaigns and OWL adventures could transfer the discussion there... so that it doesn't look dead.
  • Steve, it'll be great if you could gather all of your WFRP3 Demo work, and post it there. Or, you can send me all the files you have, and I can post it. I already posted your character generator as it's own thread since it's so well made!
  • Rob, I have posted your maptool frameworks for EotE and WFRP3, as well as the info you mentionned about Maptool. Can you verify it is all right?
  • It'd be wonderful if demo for WFRP3 and EotE could be run and announced on the FFG boards, so that we renew some life into the online community. I am myself going to run demo for EotE Roll20.
Finally, once I got your feedback and we are 100% sure we want to shift (but given the hate for Google Group, I dont doubt it), I'll ask the Reckless Dice to change their links

Cheers
Philippe

Is your link good? I keep getting a proxy server error.

Yes, I believe it is. What appears in my browser url is: ffgvirtualrpg.prediger.at

However, it is a redirect of the following address: http://www.p-mi.com/prediger/roleplaying/phpBB3/index.php

I don't want to put clutter on the boards, they still have that new boards smell.

I am thinking of offering a play by post. Where would I place it on the PHP? Bad idea? Thoughts and speculations?

perhaps setup some additional sections for those type of games , i think lets try and keep this board "tidy"

I agree with your Wisdom. Tidy would be excellent.

Along with Tidy, and I admit I have not explored too much, could we have a game schedule thread? Especially for VTT

Ok, well that is maybe a different way to think. I like the clutter on boards, it makes it feel the community is active :)

I felt we didn't have enough discussions to warrant a board specifically for game schedule, so instead I was thinking to do it like here, games are announced within the board, and people can then enjoy the discussion related to that game. What do you guys think? Do you want me to create a Game Schedule board? And would it be one for EotE and one for WFRP3, or one that combine the two?

Oh... I just read you meant "thread". So, how would a game schedule thread work? Wouldn't it become clutter with several games competition for discussion?

As for PbP, well it's virtual, so I thought it would go within the appropriate game board, inside a specific thread?

Ok, so please continue that feedback. How do you want those boards set-up? Keep in mind we are a small community, and I doubt we will grow huge.

Cheers
Philippe

philippe , i noticed that the EoE starter is using an older version of my campaign file ( i found a few bugs which i updated on my version but i dont think i put that on this group , does the board have any file space ? or will you update your file on your dropbox ?

what i think will be bad for everyone is to have 2 places for information as both would get out of sync

apart from that everything looks good

I too like the chatter that goes along with associated games, I often read the chatter even if I am not a part of the game.

That being said, it would be nice if we had a schedule, even if that schedule resides elsewhere, perhaps on Obisidian Portal. I don't think we need multiple schedules for WH vs SW. One thread would suffice with a standard format (Game. Time. GM. VTT format).

Perhaps just a sticky thread with a link to OP? However, I think only Phillippe can post there, so that is throwing too much on him. So second thought, since we do have WFRP and Star Wars fans, place a thread in each section titled Ongoing Sessions. The GM can post game times there?

Those are my opinions; however, despite 17 years of military service I often have the organizational skills of a hungry monkey at an all you can eat bannana bar.

Taking a look at the boards, I'm liking the idea of one thread in each section (WH and SW) with a standardized format:

1. Game/Campaign Name (even something a simple as Suntzu's WFRP Game. Just something that lets the user know where to find the chatter)

2. Game Time (and this could be an average, "Saturdays at such time in such time zone". With a note "see thread X for details"). Really the only time this needs to be updated is if that game has gone inactive.

3. Format (Maptools or FG2, or whatever).

Keep the chatter elsewhere (the thread for that game). Dunno. Like I said. Not my strong suit, but it would be handy to have a one stop shop for scheduling. We have so few games, I don't want to schedule mine during someone else's, if it can be helped. It maximizes my play time. And as a player, I want to know when a game is coming up.

The board unfortunately doesn't have much space, that's why we need to be using dropbox. While I am happy to host files on my dropbox, those would need to be files that arent updated often.

However if you can provide me the link to your file, I can link directly, and then when you update it, it remains the same. I just couldnt find your original link anymore.

What do you mean only I can post? I hope not... normally once you registered, you should be able to post. It isnt working? Please test :)

Let me see if I understand. We would have a thread called "Game Scheduling", where a GM can announce a game, and then link it to another thread where he has also the game announced but where people can then register? Wouldnt people anyway reply in both thread, creating confusion?

Obsidian, OWL, is great, but it is only for WFRP3 right now, and only for OWL.

Ok I start understanding the idea. Yes, I could create such a sticky thread with guidelines as to how to use it. I could use my own campaign as an example.

Let me see what everyone thinks before to go ahead with it.

Like I said. Monkey. Hungry. Lots of bananas. Can't think straight.

Beyond updating my character on OP, I haven't explored it too much so I stand corrected.

In an attempt to keep it simple, just a thread that has general information on ongoing games. I do believe the chatter should remain in the thread for that particular game and I don't want users to have to look in multiple spots, so maybe just some more categories? Rules Discussions. Ongoing games (broken into threads for game X vs Y).

Does that meet what you had in mind?

Only a little gripe.. the ongoing games subforum appears to link from both WFRP and SWEoE back to the WFRP one.
I assume you wanted a separate games forum for SWEoE??

ps. I think having a few PbP campaigns going would be great. It allows those peeps without a clear "game night" to still get involved.
Also PbP really lends itself towards different campaign styles. Such as the cerebral consipracy campaigns where your more likely to encounter death in your wine cup than at the end of a beastmans pike!

ok, go to the main star wars forum and look up the page to where it lists the sub forum.
It shows the text (at least) for the WFRP subforum instead.
Earlier when I clicked the link from the Star Wars forum it took me to the WFRP one. Doesn't seem to be doing that now but it is certainly showing the forum subtitle for the WFRP games sub forum.

Ok it is corrected!

And if you guys wants to start a PbP how to discussion on the new board, once we find a good solution, I can make a sticky post explaining how.

I am looking into Roll200 actually as PbP since it is possible to have all players be GM, and a campaign is always "on". I have asked some ideas there and once I find out how, I'll post.

Just a heads up for everyone.  I am selling my ENTIRE wfrp3 collection.
I have everything up to and including The Enemy Within.  I do not have the print on demand supplements.  I have all the boxed sets,  hard back books -  everything.
The bonus is I have never gotten to play with any of it.  I have put cards in protective sleeves and have many of the basic bits in plastic organizers(you will receive the organizers,  too)

I am selling the entire collection for $400 shipped in the United States. I can provide photos.
I just don't have time to play the game and players are impossible to find.

Is there any way to "subscribe" to the new forum or to threads within the new forum so I get e-mails when new posts are made?  That was the nicest thing about this google group is getting the e-mails.

I looked into it, and cannot find how to do it (if there is a way). I have asked Alex and we will see. We may be loosing that particular feature. I regret it myself as I was aways able to answer anyone from whereever I ended up being, whether by iphone or ipad, so obviously I'll be a lot less present.

Alright, I have cleaned up really old post on this WFRP3 Google Group. There are some more recent post that may be worth shifting over, but I will let each original poster decide to do so or not.

At the end of March, I will be closing the WFRP3 Google Group. It will be archived and accessible to read, but not to post.

Cheers
