Hello,
with new features for roll20.net it seems it is possible to implement custom dice roller. This feature should be available if you are actually subscribed to roll20 at mentor level as this is "new feature". Did anynone tried this?

I asked them on twitter and got this response:
https://twitter.com/roll20app/status/309410903722426369

I'm very excited about this because roll20 actually integrates EVERYTHING I'm using to play online and right now I have to use several separate applications.

I'm waiting with my subscription change until my "tabletop forge backer" mayhem settles down so I can't really check it right now.

Cheers,
  Radek.

Ok, to answer my own question. YES, it is possible, I've done it in few minutes. Not very convienient roll but possible. That means it is possible to play wfrp3 and new star wars games. :)

Cheers,
  Radek.

This will eventualy end up on free servers or so I'm told. It is in testing phase right now.

Cheers,
  Radek.

Well, I am glad they are moving toward custom dices. I don't feel Roll20 is yet up to par with FG2 for WFRP3, or with Maptool for SWEotE, but when it is, it will definitely be very attractive for SWEotE, and I look forward to it. The most attractive selling point for Roll20 is their ease of use.

Personally, I don't think Roll20 will ever be able to match Neil FG2 ruleset though in term of functionality, except if they allow modding and someone do some work for it.

Cheers
Philippe

I saw this today on the FFG EotE board. It is apparently a dice roller application for Google Handout, and therefore working with Roll20 as well.

If you try it, let us know how it works.

Cheers

At first sight - brilliant! It has dice result resolution, it has overlay of last roll over your camera image, it works with roll20... sort of.. Because in roll20 you cannot hide chat area (or I don't know how to) it takes huge part of the screen, I think in this case two monitors is a must. But anyway, very good roller! I can now prepare my first SW:EotE game. :)

Cheers,
  Radek.

Hey Rad, I am a noob at Roll20 and Hangout, but here is what I came up with as a Game screen. Can you share your screenshot, as I am unsure what you mean by overlay of the last roll over your camera image

Sorry for late response. I think you have to have webcam on for that to function. On my screenshot pay attention to lower right corner of webcam stream.

Cheers,
  Radek.

Ahhh ok. I hadn't realized that. I wouldn't use a camera when GMing or playing, but since everyone can see the roll in the app, it doesn't matter much.

On another subject, how do you get WFRP3 dices? I wouldn't plan to shift from FG2 for WFRP3, but I am curious.

I just started building the Beginner Box adventure for EotE in Roll20, and I am impressed by the software. It's definitely a different beast than FG2, but very interesting. I regret however that their jukebox only takes from Soundcloud as it means no Star Wars music is possible (since it's all copyrighted).

@ Philippe, as tot screencapture software, I recommend using XSplit. It can even record in HD and from different angles.

Arnaud

Sorry Arnaud, what is XSplit, and what for? You mean to create videos?

As I said in previous post development server of roll20 has "rolling tables" similar to maptool's. Setting this up is childplay, however using it is bit more complicated. I already posted some suggestions to "mentor" forum of roll20.

I've searched for Star Wars music and I found some (some is remixed but some seems to be close to original), also free account on soudcloud allows for 120 minutes of upload so you can upload music for a session, then delete it afterwards :P . A bit complicated, I know. ;)

In  general Roll20 is nice, I prefer it over maptool but FG2 wins in many regards. I wish there was Star Wars roller for FG2. :(

Cheers,
  Radek.

It was a reaction to your last post, you mentioned something about using a camera with GMing. So I immediately thought about the screenrecording program which I use: XSplit. The program is also often used as a broadcasting program.

Arnaud

Well, I tried uploading some of my original (i.e. I bought it and own it) SW music, but Soundcloud reject the files after upload, saying it was copyrighted :(. Not a huge deal, but it's frustrating.

Overall, I am impressed by Roll20, especially only after 1 year of development. It does almost as much as maptool, and is easier to use. If they could add some organizational features, since it's a pretty mess right now when creating a big campaign, it would definitely be an option. Well, it is already my option for EotE short of coding a ruleset for FG2 ;)

Arnaud, ok I see. Thanks for the tip. It's just I am not planning to use my webcam when GMing. My players are scared enough like that ;)
