Hi,

Earlier this year Google announced they will shutdown Google Code Project hosting. This is what Google said in their e-mail:

Earlier today, Google announced we will be turning down Google Code Project Hosting. The service started in 2006 with the goal of providing a scalable and reliable way of hosting open source projects. Since that time, millions of people have contributed to open source projects hosted on the site.

But a lot has changed since 2006. In the past nine years, many other options for hosting open source projects have popped up, along with vibrant communities of developers. It’s time to recognize that Google Code’s mission to provide open source projects a home has been accomplished by others, such as GitHub and Bitbucket.

We will be shutting down Google Code over the coming months. Starting today, the site will no longer accept new projects, but will remain functionally unchanged until August 2015. After that, project data will be read-only. Early next year, the site will shut down, but project data will be available for download in an archive format.

We plan to export wfrog to GitHub using the export tool already provided by Google Code. If someone has any comment to make now it's the time to do so. Otherwise I expect to move the project in the coming weeks, before it becomes read only in Google code. Once I'll do this I'll e-mail everybody again with more info.

Thanks to all of you for keeping wfrog alive!

Jordi.

Hi all,

I've just exported the wfrog project to github. Now you can find it at https://github.com/jpuigsegur/wfrog. I still haven't activated the redirection in the old google site while I finish the migration (README, wiki, etc.).

IMPORTANT!!   Shortly I plan to proceed to update commiter e-mail and name following the method in https://help.github.com/articles/changing-author-info/, recommended for migrations from SVN. Please, access the following document to update your information:

Thanks,
Jordi.

Ciao Jordi. I updated my email in the doc.
Thanks for your efforts as wonderful steward of the project.
I guess you also plan to transfer the repo to the wfrog organization you created, right?
Cheers,
Laurent

Hi Laurent,

2015-07-15 8:15 GMT+02:00 Laurent Bovet <lbo...@windmaster.ch>:

Yes, I plan to transfer the repo to the wfrog organization, but first I'd like to update the e-mails and setup the wiki and main pages (README.md) so that the info is similar to what we have in Google code.

We should coordinate when we mark the old google code project as moved so that the wfrog domain points to the new github project.

Jordi.

Hi all,

The migration to github is mostly complete. A new organization GitHub organization wfrog has been created and the wfrog repo can now be found at:

The commiter and author e-mails have been unified and I've begun the work to adapt the wiki to GitHub. The wiki still needs more work to adapt it to Github.

It also remains the download section to be migrated, most likely using GitHub Releases. So far I haven't had time to check that yet, so the download links still point to Google Code.

Jordi.
