Hi,

Currently the appendix says that at WFDF Championship events teams are
allowed have a maximum of 28 players. From what I have experienced,
this frequently dictates that a game is won by the team that has the
most players and not always by the team that has the better players.

I would be interested to hear people's thoughts on either reducing
this limit or, in the knowledge that some people may put forward a
safety argument, putting a limit on the number of players that can
play in a game. Perhaps 14 or 17? This would still allow for big
squads but it would mean any given game would be decided by a set
number of players thus not favouring the team with the most players.

I think World Games participants might be in the best position to
comment on roster limits for games.

I look forward to hearing from people.

With regards,

I'm in favour of reducing roster size, even for a tournament as long and
arduous as Worlds.

Some teams took 28 players to WUC2008 in Vancouver, and that is a ludicrous
number to play in a game.

I think 24 is the next step. If we're going to do that for 2010, we should
announce the intention when we first offer bids, even if it's not
finalised.

We would also need to think about whether we should have different roster
limits for an individual game and for a tournament. It's the large
tournament roster that gives teams an advantage, being able to rest players
during the week. There's no particular reason to limit a roster for a
particular game if there's a tournament roster limit. Is there?
