Thanx for the quick responses... i'm amazed that this rule change
hasn't been discussed more-its a major change from the 2002 to the
2007 versions of the rules that sort of snuck by. In fact, i have been
playing by the old rule for years, as have most (maybe all) of the
folk i play with/against. Anyway, it raises one more question:

Player catches the disc in the enzone, has contact with enzone
(ground) and full control (disc caught), however due to later contact
with the ground the disc is dropped. Is this a point?

It isn't a point. Because of this rule:

12.2. If the player loses control of the disc due to subsequent
contact with the ground or a
team-mate or a legitimately positioned opposition player, the catch is
deemed to have
not occurred.
