Good Morning, Please see the attached final and mailed PC Foam letter. All our state and county officials were sent this letter. Please share with local officials. Thank you for all your help and support let’s see if we get any responses …..
Subject: Foam Update
MAC 4 and I attended a UASI Fire Coordinators meeting which was largely about FIFA, however at the end of the meeting, there was a discussion about Foam and the Metuchen Tanker incident.
Metuchen Incident: 1100 gallons of Universal Green foam was used. The initial tactical was to get foam into the storm sewer system to extinguish the running spill fires that were burning up to ¼ mile away.
It was decided to allow as much of the product to burn off as possible and then make a foam attack. This tactic worked however it was said by the Middlesex Coordinator that they used a lot more foam but it did extinguish the remaining fire.
Foam replacement:
We are not alone in petitioning elected officials on this topic.
I brought up the letter we are distributing, and when I got home sent them copies of the draft, as they wanted to follow suit.
Union Co. Fire Coordinator Scanio stated he has heard some talk about a replacement plan but nothing concrete at this time.
Steve Dyl endorsed a grass roots movement by all county FDs and contacting elected officials.
Stay Safe!
