Subject: [EXTERNAL] Upcoming Dangerous Heat and Potential Severe Weather - Blast Email #1
Good afternoon partners,
We are currently forecasting heat and humidity to increase over the coming days. In addition to the heat, there are chances for severe thunderstorms to move through Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Attached are graphics highlighting the heat and severe weather threats over the coming days with a rundown below.
What Has Changed: Initial Briefing
Hazardous Weather: Dangerous heat on Thursday and Friday; Marginal Risk for Severe Thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, with a potential higher risk on Friday.
Locations Affected: New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Impacts: Heat - Potential for heat exhaustion to anyone without effective cooling, adequate hydration, and/or frequent breaks. For the severe weather, damaging wind gusts could knock trees and power lines down, resulting in road closures and/or power outages.
Experimental NWS HeatRisk website (https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/heatrisk/) designed to forecast heat related impacts. The entire area is at least at a moderate risk for heat-related impacts with some locations seeing a major risk on Thursday and Friday.
If you have any questions, please contact our office.
Thanks,
NWS Mount Holly/Philadelphia
