1) Fires:
December was a busy month for fires in our area. While the holidays
can often see increased activity due to fires from heating appliances
and decorations, the several fires our Department responded to recently
did NOT result from these sources. Still, with several months of cold
weather pending, we've posted information on heating seasons safety at
http://wfd101.com/newsbin/heatingseason.html -
As always we encourage you to visit our site frequently for the latest
news and pictures.

2) Home Inspections:
Due to an increasing number of requests for home safety inspections,
our Prevention Bureau has released a safety checklist you may find
helpful at http://wfd101.com/newsbin/home_insp.html -
If you'd like to schedule a home inspection, please call our business
office at 885-7640.

3) New Protocol:
During the Month of December crews reviewed a new EMS Protocol that
will become active beginning 01-01-07. The new document adds several
new drugs and drug regimens for cardiac and medical emergencies.
Additionally our crews will now be able to administer CPAP (Continuous
Positive Airway Pressure) via a new device, allowing us to dramatically
improve breathing for certain patients experiencing life-threatening
disorders.

4) Mailing List
Although the response to our inquiry regarding this newsletter was
small, we have decided to continue it for now. We still encourage each
of you to visit our site regularly. With only so many hours in a day,
more effort is focused on the site and will always have more timely
information available.
