1) VEHICLE ACCIDENT
Our ER101 was involved in a vehicle accident. This accident occurred
in the same location (161 just E of Proprietors) where M102 had an
accident in April. Both accidents were the fault of other driver's
failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. We will be exploring the
possibility of an educational news story in the coming weeks. In the
meantime, we would ask everyone to remember that Ohio Law requires
vehicles to pull to the right for sirens and lights. Reminding your
friends and neighbors is appreciated. There's additional information

2) TRAINING FIRE
A training fire was scheduled for the end of August but has been
postponed since we are without a back-up Engine at this time (see #1
above). When ER101 returns we will be re-scheduling the burn.
Training fires allow all members of our Department to practice
numerous tactical and strategic skills necessary for effective
emergency management. The structure that will be used for this fire
is located on Olentangy River Road, just south of 161.
3) HOT DAYS and NIGHTS
This summer has seen a significant heat wave during the past few
weeks. The dry weather parches vegetation, increasing the occurrence
of grass, mulch and brush fires. These fires can spread to involve
structures, so we urge everyone to exercise caution when things are
dry. Additionally, heat injuries are common this time of year. Take
frequent breaks, drink plenty of fluids, and try to schedule work and
play for cooler periods of the day. You can find additional
information here:

4) WEBMASTER OFF DUTY
This site's Webmaster will be off on Vacation for most of September.
Due this, there will be fewer updates on the site than usual. Please
feel free to use this forum during that period should you have any
questions.... Hopefully someone from our Dept will be available to
reply!
