It's spring and that means our crews will be working during the next
few weeks checking every fire hydrant in Worthington, Sharon Twp,
Riverlea, and Brookside Estates. During the spring checks we do flush
all hydrants to verify the are ready to be used in the case of an
emergency. If you see crews working in your area, please do not do
any laundry until your water quality returns to normal. You can find
this year's schedule and further information at http://wfd101.com/newsbin/hydrants07.html.
These checks will occur during business hours 04-30-07 through
05-25-07.
2) FDIC
Several Members of WFD attended the Fire Departments Instructor
Conference in Indianapolis in April. The 1 week even has apparatus
and equipment demonstrations, and dozens of in-service training events
and lectures. We were honored to grant Summit Apparatus (the
manufacturer of our new Engine / Rescue) permission to take our new
Engine Rescue to the conference as a display piece.

Did you know that approximately 12,000 clothes dryer fires occur
annually causing 15 deaths, 300 injuries and over $88 million dollars
in property loss. The most common cause of these fires is "failure to
clean" - meaning properly keeping filters, lint traps and ductwork
clean of debris, lint, etc. so that the dryer can function properly.
