1) Is It Spring Yet?
February saw several snow storms and Central Ohio's typical
temperature fluctuations. Several of these storms hit during peak
travel times, resulting in higher than usual run volume for our
station. It's not uncommon during bad weather for crews to respond to
6-9 incidents during a 4-6 hour window. If you need to travel during
bad weather please plan on giving yourself some additional time. Many
accidents on snowy and icy roads occur when motorists fail to slow
down for existing conditions. Be safe! We always like meeting our
residents, but not when they've landed in a ditch.

2) Whooping Cough
Whooping cough vaccinations were made available to our members during
February. Both Thomas Worthington and Kilbourne High Schools saw
limited outbreaks of this disease late last year. The problem still
persists in our area, so vaccinations were made available.

3) Vehicle Updates
Two of our front-line response vehicles have been down recently for
extended maintenance. ER101 was Out OF Service for about 1 week while
repairs were made to its electrical and engine monitor systems. The
first repair addressed signal lighting that was not responding
properly and the second a recurring "check engine light". M101 was
gone to repair a broken emergency light and for some minor body work
around that light's housing. The damage occurred in tight quarters at
the OSU ER several weeks ago.
